Cutting Tabs: This is a greatly enlarged view of a score line, the bump side. When cutting your slits you are basically cutting away the score. You angle the cut from the side of the bump into a point at the top of your cut. You are cutting away a sliver of paper. |

Punching holes: As the sides of the lid may be the same depth as the bottom of the box you need to cut finger holes. I use a circle punch. Do this before you glue the tabs. |

Ease: Sometimes there needs to be a little ease between the lid and bottom. I usually add 1/16" to the measurements, width and length. For example for a box bottom 7" x 7" the measurements for the lid would be 7 1/16" x 7 1/16". If I am using a very heavy cardstock I will add 1/8". |
